Entry, Living & Ensuite

Jakki Mak Design converted the very sad polished floor and black slate that were competing against each other into a beautiful new entry. The entry and living room floors were re-levelled and instead of being greeted by open dining when walking into the house, the new semi-walled niche design provided a contemporary yet private feel. It was a win-win situation for the clients because he loves niches and she loves privacy.

'It feels like I'm on holidays all the time - I love coming home now.' Kylie

The addition of the extra sliding doors onto the verandah was economical because there were no structural changes required. The family now enjoys maximum views over Belmont bay from their living room. An odd window above the lounge was replaced by a reverse-cycle air-conditioning unit for added comfort. By a minor extension to the lounge wall, the family gained more space to comfortably position their three-seater lounge. The beautiful cyprus pine floorboards were finished with a darker stain to match the new decor and give the room a contemporary feel.

The clients were delighted with the end result of their sparkling white ensuite which includes a specially designed swathe of chocolate Bisazza tiles inset in the shower for body care products. The ceiling-high mirrored cupboards add a sense of space and peace. The poorly positioned linen cupboard was reversed and became a stylish walk-in-robe alongside the new ensuite.

Simple. Uncluttered. Timeless.
